"We mean to burn it to the ground. It will not be pleasant, but it is necessary."

Commander Nassir, or "Blankscale," is a high-ranking member of Malakai's Goldenkind. He fought for the Consortium in the Astral Civil War and is featured in the LotV tie-in story Light of the Moon.

Blankscale

History[]

Nassir was born with white scales, a rarity in the Dragonborn race. Having white scales is commonly associated with a short and/or limited life. Nassir is one of the few white-scaled Dragonborn to have a long and productive life. It earned him the nickname "Blankscale," which he took ownership of after it was used to deride him.

Like most Goldenkind, he had to hide his allegiances from other Dragonborn. The Goldenkind would meet in secret, always planning the return of Malakai. When the day came and Cyric released Malakai from his volcanic prison, the Golden Dragon promised great things for his followers. Nassir became an integral member of Malakai's operation. He was known as someone who would do what needed to be done and didn't let emotion get in the way.

Unlike many other Goldenkind, who tend to indulge their primal urges and are considered "uncivilized" by many, Nassir is the epitome of businesslike. He is well-spoken, well-read, and well-educated in the strategies of war. This makes him a dangerous enemy.

Astral Civil War[]

When he moved the Goldenkind base of operations to the Isle of Leaves, Nassir met Elia Whitewalker, an Elven Child of Melora. She shared his businesslike outlook on the war and life in general. They worked together in concert to plan operations for the Consortium. Eventually, the two struck up a relationship, which they continued in secret.

When two elves went missing on a scouting mission to the Isle of Beasts, Nassir put together an expedition. The Consortium needed the isle as a supply hub and trade route, and he planned to take it by whatever means necessary. At the urging of Elia, he allowed Aelis of the Moonleaf to accompany them. Though he had originally planned to just raze the island with fire, Aelis convinced him to allow her some time to find her lost companions. Nassir agreed. After what he thought was a reasonable amount of time, he began burning the forest.

Aelis disappeared and was presumed dead. Nassir considered it a casualty of war. When Elia discovered what he'd done, she broke off all contact and refused to speak to him.

After Aelis returned and convinced Melora to turn against the Consortium, many Goldenkind were wiped out on the Isle of Leaves. Nassir was able to escape, setting sail towards the War Camp. He was present for the events of the War Camp Assault.
